Description

Your pilot will give you an eagle’s eye view of high alpine lakes, “icefalls” hanging from sheer cliffs and some of the most remote peaks and glaciers in the Juneau Icefield — places like Wonderland, Glacier King, the Mendenhall Towers, and Devil’s Paw. The itinerary is flexible; your pilot is free to create the best possible tour under the current weather and glacier conditions.

For an up-close opportunity to appreciate this ancient landscape, your pilot will land in two different locations, where you will continue the tour on foot! During these two landings you will learn about the geological and environmental processes at work creating moraines, crevasses, seracs, and the glaciers themselves.

The “Pilot’s Choice” tour is an incomparable journey of discovery, a once-in-a-lifetime experience sure to provide enduring memories of Southeast Alaska’s beautiful wilderness.

Tour includes approximately 50 minutes of flight time and two separate landing locations for approximately 30 minutes combined time on the glacier, for a total tour duration of 80 minutes. Please allow up to 45 minutes for transportation from dock departure to dock return and safety briefing. Approximately 30 minutes of the 80-minute tour will be spent on the National Forest System Lands.

Note: These tours are conducted under the helicopter Tour Operators Program of Safety (TOPS). These are the best management practices for making your safety the top priority. (Flight routes and landing sites may vary due to weather and glacier conditions.)

We comply with the flightseeing/wildlife viewing practices adopted by the Alaska Visitor’s Association. These guidelines were established to be sensitive to, and insure the continued viability of area wildlife species.

Due to weight and balance limitations, and passenger safety and comfort, we may charge an additional rate to reserve extra space onboard the helicopter for passengers that are above a certain weight.

Guests should wear warm and comfortable clothing. Sunglasses are recommended.· Photo opportunities abound…Don’t forget your camera!
