Description
This trip combines a boat transport to an uninhabited island, sea kayaking, and wildlife viewing for the ultimate eco-adventure! You will be picked up near your cruise ship or hotel and taken to our six passenger vessel. From there we will head out of the harbor into the waters of the Inside Passage to one of the Channel Islands where we will disembark from the boat and get into our kayaks. The next two hours will be spent paddling along the forested shore-line searching for whales and other wildlife, and enjoying the scenery. While on the water you may see humpback whales, harbor seals, steller sea lions, dall’s porpoise, harbor porpoise, orca, numerous bird species including bald eagles, and deer or river otters along the shore. Throughout this trip our expert guides and boat captain will share their local knowledge of the area and interesting information about the wildlife and their behavior. The scenic paddling locations we have access to are endless and offering the opportunity to see wildlife in a unique and intimate way – from the seat of a kayak. It doesn’t stop there. Be prepared to take in the beauty of glaciers off in the distance and the majestic mountains of the Chilkat and Coast Ranges.
We will end our paddle back at the island we started from and spend some time beach combing or exploring the intertidal zone until our water taxi arrives. Following the cruise back to the harbor our van will be awaiting our return to drive you back to your cruise ship or local accommodations.
